Reunion Latina 2010 is around the corner! We have so much work to do!
2010 will be indeed a demanding time for all of us: While the nation has elected a new president, the International AIDS conference was held in Mexico City this past summer, bringing light to the situation of HIV and AIDS in the Americas; and the current financial crisis is affecting all sectors of this country; we need to get involved, stay informed and work together more than ever to find ways to deal with the challenges ahead of us.
Reunion Latina continues its tradition of uniting voices and promoting actions to raise awareness among religious and civic leaders, working with the media and educating our Latino Communities about the impact of health disparities, HIV/AIDS and the effects of stigma, homophobia and discrimination.
A critical initiative this year is the promotion of a New York State HIV/AIDS Latino Action Agenda that establishes our needs and priorities, and present them to the bodies in charge of addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Civic participation and mobilization are key components to reminding our elected and appointed leaders to address AIDS from an integral perspective. HIV/AIDS in the Latino community continues causing devastating effects. WE MUST RAISE OUR VOICES IN UNISON AND TAKE ACTION SO THAT WE CAN LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT AIDS.

¡Reunión Latina se acerca! ¡Tenemos mucho trabajo por delante!
2010 será un año exigente para todos; Mientras la nación ha elegido un nuevo presidente, la conferencia Internacional del SIDA ocurrió en la ciudad de México el verano pasado, abriendo los ojos a la realidad de VIH y SIDA en las Américas; y el crisis financiera afectando a todos los sectores de este país; necesitamos involucrarnos, informarnos, y trabajar juntos mas que nunca para encontrar maneras de tratar con los desafíos que se avecinan.
Reunión Latina continua su tradición de unir voces y promover acciones para levantar conciencia entre lideres cívicos y religiosos, trabajando con medios de comunicación y educando nuestras comunidades Latinas sobre el impacto de las disparidades de salud, VIH/SIDA y los efectos del estigma, homofobia y discriminación.
Una iniciativa crítica éste año será la promoción de la Agenda Latina de Acción sobre el SIDA que establece nuestras prioridades y necesidades para así presentarlas a aquellos que están encargados de abordar la epidemia de VIH/SIDA. Participación cívica y movilización son piezas fundamentales en recordar a nuestros líderes electos y nombrados la importancia de abordar la SIDA de una perspectiva integral. VIH/SIDA en la comunidad latina continua causando efectos devastadores. DEBEMOS LEVANTAR NUESTRAS VOCES UNIDAS Y TOMAR ACCION PARA QUE PODRAMOS VIVIR EN UN MUNDO SIN SIDA.
