The Director of Health Policy, DHP will be responsible for following local, state and Federal health policy development with a focus on HIV/AIDS for the Commission. The DHP will support the community mobilization efforts and develop local, state and national partners. This position will work with the President and Vice President of the Commission on local and national community based mobilization and policy development projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop health policy positions on local, state and national health issues.
- Participate in local, state and national coalitions that focus on public health issues concerned with HIV/AIDS and related healthcare concerns.
- Support the Director of NLAAD to produce our annual National Latino AIDS Day (October 15).
- Manage national network of partners, assist with development of activities and enlist new partners.
- Coordinate national and statewide initiatives with minority health care providers for collective action.
- Monitor and report on local, state and federal policy issues that affect Hispanics.
- Assist with managing the National Latino AIDS Network and collaborate with members on advocacy issues.
- Produce a monthly HIV/AIDS newsletter focus con health policy issues in both languages.
Requirements:
Strong candidates must be bilingual (English and Spanish); must have 3-5 years of experience on health policy, have superior communication and writing skills in both languages; work well with others; be able to effectively coordinate, organize and mobilize. Candidates must be self-starters, able to multi-task; able to travel domestically, create action plans and complete projects within timelines.
Salary based on experience.
