Description: |
Many Men, Many Voices (3MV) is a 7-session, group-level intervention program which will be adapted and tailored with Latino men who have sex with men (MSM) who may or may not identify themselves as gay, on the 'down low' with or without female partners (i.e., men of color who have sex with other men but do not identify as gay or bisexual) in an effort to prevent HIV and sexually transmitted diseases. The intervention will address factors that influence the behavior of Latino MSM: cultural, social, and religious norms; interactions between HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases; sexual relationship dynamics; and the social influences that racism and homophobia have on HIV risk behaviors. |
Primary
Responsibilities |
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the 3MV program.
- Identify sites and locations to recruit participants.
- Strong knowledge of the Diffusion of Evidence Based Interventions (DEBI) project.
- Intervention is an evaluation program which requires extensive knowledge of excel, PEMS, SPSS, statistical analyses such as paired t-tests.
- Arrange logistics (data collection, space, transportation, food, program materials).
- Organize, facilitate and lead the 3MV group sessions and facilitate curriculum activities and group discussion, requires strong group facilitation skills.
- Provide referrals for social and health services related to curriculum topics (e.g., STD/HIV testing services, domestic violence services, legal services).
- Have knowledge of social service agencies/programs.
- Establish and ensure a friendly and safe environment during sessions.
- Supervise staff in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
- Develop 3MV program polices and procedures manual and work plan.
- Establish employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews.
- Schedule work assignments/rotations, training, assignment and schedule rotations.
- Participate in the design and preparation of activities to publicize the 3MV program within the community.
- Create and sustain relationships with community organizations and leaders.
- Schedule and conduct team meetings.
- Achieve and meet program goals and objectives.
- Conduct quality assurance, be responsible for all data collection for the evaluation of program and work with the evaluation team.
- Collaborate in the creation of abstracts and manuscripts for journals.
- Ensure evaluation of program with internal evaluation team, local and national partners.
- Manage inventory and ordering of program materials and other supplies.
- Complete and submit quantitative and qualitative reports.
- Maintain confidential files.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Programs.

| Qualifications |
Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health or related field with at least five (5) years experience in HIV prevention, and at least three (3) years supervisory skills. Excellent communication skills, writing and verbal. Computer literate Microsoft Word and Excel. Bilingual (English and Spanish). |

Description: |
The WILLOW intervention is a social-skills building and educational intervention that will be adapted and tailored with Latina adult women living with HIV. It consists of 4 four-hour sessions which are delivered by two trained adult female facilitators, one of whom is a woman living with HIV. The small group sessions consist of 8-10 Latina women living with HIV and are conducted in a community-based setting. WILLOW emphasizes gender pride, informs women how to identify and maintain supportive social networks, teaches coping strategies to reduce life stressors, enhances awareness of STD transmission and HIV reinfection risk behaviors, teaches communication skills for negotiating safe sex, reinforces proper and consistent condom use, distinguishes between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and defines types of abusive relationships and their effect on a woman's ability to negotiate safer sex practices. |
