Nueva York, Nueva York. The Latino Commission on AIDS launches its second citywide campaign to raise awareness of stigma. In this case, the campaign will address the impact of HIV/AIDS in the Latino population over the age of 50. The campaign will look to raise awareness on the vulnerability of mature adults and to promote the importance of getting tested for HIV. Ignoring the more mature population is a form of stigma that is prevalent in our communities; the campaign looks to call attention to the importance that all communities deserve. The campaign, funded through the New York City Council, will promote getting tested for HIV in our communities as the best form of prevention in relation to HIV/AIDS. Promoting HIV testing and educating on the negative health impact of any type of stigma will be the messages presented throughout the campaign.
The campaign will include over six weeks of ads in newspapers, in the MTA bus system, and via electronic media. The campaign will also include a special promotion for Latino HIV Testing Month. For more information visit www.latinohivtesting.org or call the AIDS information hotline at 1-800-233-7432.
.
