| New York, New York, July 23, 2007. The Latino Commission on AIDS had a significant presence at the opening of the HBO Latino Film Festival on July 22, 2007. Fulfilling his role as Padrino of the Latino Commission on AIDS, Karlo reached out to the organizers of the Festival in New York to promote awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS in Latino communities across the U.S.."
“We recognize the importance of the HBO Latino Film Festival and appreciate the opportunity to be present at the Festival opening through our Padrino Karlo” stated Dennis de Leon, President of Latino Commission on AIDS. The t-shirts provided by the Commission for the event were designed by Latin Laundry. Through this endeavor, the Commission hopes to inspire others to join its collaborative effort in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the Latino community.

The Latino Commission on AIDS is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Latino communities. The Commission realizes its mission by spearheading health advocacy for Latinos, promoting HIV education and prevention, developing model programs for high-risk communities, and by building capacity in community-based organizations. The Commission works to mobilize an effective Latino community response to the health crisis created by HIV/AIDS. |
