Mano a Mano
Mano a Mano is a network of Latino LGBT organizations and
activists based in New York that was founded in 1997. Mano
a Mano’s mission is to increase the well-being, visibility
and political power of the Latino lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) community as a means to
defeat the inequalities that our communities face based on
our ethnicity, race, immigration status, social status, gender
expression and sexual identity.
Mano a Mano does its work by
- Sharing and disseminating information on activities and
services available to the NY Latino LGBT community through
a Communications Network;
- Addressing the issues that affect the NY Latino LGBT community
(including but not limited to AIDS/HIV prevention and treatment,
general health care, housing, immigration, language access,
same sex violence, homophobia, coming out, visibility and
cultural awareness) and
- Supporting the development of Latino LGBT organizations
in NY by offering technical support, developing connections
to funding sources and creating collaborative opportunities.
