::Junta Comunal de Asesoramiento o “CAB” (Community Advisory Board, como se conoce en inglés). El “CAB” juega un papel muy importante en este proyecto, ya que es el grupo asesor que apoyará y cultivará el trabajo de los jóvenes que forman parte del grupo de decisión del programa, son los mentores de nuestro proyecto.

Sus miembros se reúnen cada dos meses para proveer consejos, ideas y sugerencias para actividades sociales/salud y proyectos futuros para el programa de empoderamiento.
El “CAB” está compuesto por hombres y mujeres de diferentes universidades, agencias comunitarias (LGBT/SIDA), salud pública, bares y
clubes, negocios, etc. |

- Los miembros del “CAB” son individuos en posiciones de liderazgo que tienen un conocimiento particular o tienen conexiones fuertes dentro de la comunidad, negocio, etc.
Los miembros del “CAB” no solo proveerán información y consejos importantes al grupo de decisión, sino que también pueden ser instrumentales en proveer aceso a recursos economicos que puedan ayudar al Proyecto (e.g., espacio para acercamiento comunal “outreach”, taquillas gratis para ir al cine, GAP, clubes/bares, incentivos, etc) También, pueden ayudar a recaudar fondos para actividades grandes o buscar donaciones para dicho evento, etc.
- El “CAB” no estará envuelto en la programación de día a día del Programa de Empoderamiento. El “CAB” servirá como tornavoz para el grupo de decisión y le dará ideas y sugerencias para planificar eventos y actividades futuras.
- El papel del “CAB” es estrictamente de asesoramiento. El “CAB” no tiene la responbilidad financiera del Proyecto.
- Los miembros del “CAB” a veces cumplen con el papel de enlace entre el Proyecto (Empoderamiento) y la Organización (Comisión), negocio y/u otro red de conexiones.

::The CAB is compromised of men and women from AIDS, gay and lesbian, public health, universities, clubs & bars, businesses communities, etc. The CAB will meet bi-monthly to provide guidance, ideas and suggestions on future project activities and programs. The CAB plays an important role in the Mpowerment Project. Essentially it is a group of mentors who support and nurture the work of the Core Group (Group of ten youth leaders.) Its members are individuals in positions of power within the community, or who are particularly knowledgeable about or well connected within the community. Consequently, not only are they able to provide the Core Group with valuable information and advice, but they can also be instrumental in providing access to resources that will facilitate the Project’s operation, such as locating spaces for outreach & educational purposes, allocating tickets for free events (i.e., clubs/bars, movies), etc.
As the name implies, the CAB is not involved in the day to day operations of the Project. Rather, it serves as a sounding board for the Core Group as it formulates long-range plans for the Project or conceptualizes major activities. The role of the CAB is purely advisory. The CAB does not have fiduciary (financial) responsibility for the Project.
CAB members often fulfill a liaison role by providing a link between the Project and the organization, business and/or other networks they represent.
