Welcome to the Research and Evaluation Department at the Latino Commission on AIDS. We strive to provide government, private industry and public with the very best information and analysis regarding health disparities that affect the Latino community in the U.S. The information we provide is not only accurate and timely, but also is useful and actionable, to support our believe that every person, specially those from affected communities, has the right to access health education and medical access.
Our Research Cores
The Research Core is responsible for promoting scientific exchanges in the area of Latino health disparities through original and secondary research, literature reviews, a seminar series, interactive workshops, and an annual mini-grant competition. Our research will provide critical information to key stakeholders, including community based organizations, health departments, and policymakers. RED is organized into three research Cores that support and enhance the conduct of research studies undertaken by RED investigators. Each Cores brings together a multidisciplinary group with shared expertise in the Core area and who are able to contribute to Core functions from different disciplinary perspectives, stimulating cross-discipline interactions.
The Education and Training Core
The Education and Training Core concentrates on the recruitment, retention, and development of future leaders in the area of health disparities. This is achieved through the recruitment of high school, undergraduate and graduate students; cross-cultural community field experiences, stipends, and research and evaluation assignments.
The Community Connections Core
The Community Connections Core is responsible for developing and testing innovative training, applied research, and outreach partnerships with minority communities.
The Evaluation Core
The Evaluation Core is responsible for measuring the performance of the agency’s programs to encourage high-quality services for the public, strengthening guidance for programs, identifying effective practices, promoting appropriate change in programs, and identification of evidence-based interventions.
