Asking you for a special gift to the Commission.
Dear Friend:
On behalf of the Board, staff, clients and volunteers of the Latino Commission on AIDS (the Commission), we would like to thank you for your ongoing support. We take great pride in our programs as we continue fighting the impact of HIV/AIDS. Economic uncertainty has made our work challenging, but no less important to the many individuals, families, and communities we serve on a yearly basis.
Since 1990, the Commission has been dedicated to resolving the HIV/AIDS crisis in the Latino community, where different factors social stigma, poverty, language barriers, immigration status, and lack of access to healthcare increase the HIV infection rate. Over 200,000 Latinos in the U.S. and Puerto Rico have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and although Latinos constitute 16% of the U.S. population, they accounted for over 20% of new HIV infections in 2009.
During these challenging economic times, we would like to request your support today. Your contribution will help us tackle the many challenges ahead. In order to carry out our goals we need your financial support, now more than ever…
Your ongoing support of our efforts allows the Commission to provide services in non-traditional settings in 43 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico through our groundbreaking public health service model encompassing five core and complementary services to high-risk communities: health education, HIV testing & prevention, capacity building, community education, and research & evaluation. All of our services are offered in both English and Spanish by a professional and culturally diverse bilingual staff.
The Commission’s vital work has required focused action, innovation, and commitment on many strategic levels. Because 2012 will be a crucial time in our work, we need to ask you for a special gift of $25, $ 50, $100 or more. To continue our progress and to follow through on all of our exciting planned activities, we need to increase our support.
We know you’re being asked to make contributions to many worthwhile organizations. Your support to the Latino Commission on AIDS will go directly toward providing the much needed funding that supports our organizational advocacy and creative approaches to confront health disparities and the disproportionate impact of HIV/AIDS in our communities.
We’re counting on your support to enhance the Commission’s pioneering work. We hope that you will send a personally significant and tax-deductible donation today!
